It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Zazula announces her passing on Sunday, November 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan is predeceased by her mother Margaret Parsons (1994), grandmother Phyllis Moon (2000), grandson Keadon (2005), and mother-in-law Frances Zazula (2013). She is lovingly remembered by her husband Don Zazula, daughters Kimberly (Shane) Macknak, Maureen (Kraig) Anderson, grandchildren Julia Zazula, Jenna Macknak, Jadyn Macknak, Riley Anderson and Gavin Anderson, great grandchildren Bryden and Blake Zazula, siblings Dawn (Roger) Williams, Wendy (John) Hilbig, Brian (Renee) Parsons, Linda (Joe) Moore, Scott (Holly) Parsons, father Earl (Irene) Parsons, brothers-in-law Harvey (Lorraine) Zazula and Darcy (Linda) Zazula, father-in-law John Zazula, as well as many nieces, nephews, old and new friends.
Susan was born in Invermay to Margaret and Earl Parsons on June 25, 1952. She received her schooling at Chain of Lakes School and Invermay School. In 1971 Susan married Don Zazula in Invermay. After brief stints in Naisberry, Insinger and Canal Flats in B.C., Susan and Don moved to Yorkton and resided there until 1999. They then moved to Regina in 1999 and then in 2004 moved to Saskatoon where they resided until Susan’s passing. Don and Susan were blessed with two beautiful daughters: Kimberly, who was born in 1973 and Maureen, who was born in 1977.
Susan stayed home with her children while they were growing up and took in children to babysit. Once her girls were older Susan also worked in the bakery at the Yorkton Co-op for many years. While in Regina she worked at Buds and Blossoms Flower Shop and HK Insurance. In Saskatoon, she worked at Rayner Insurance and then Laroche McDonald Agencies.
Susan was a loving, caring wife who enjoyed any time spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. Many dance recitals, ringette games, volleyball games, soccer games, gymnastic classes, ball games and swimming lessons were all enjoyed by Susan. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother in every sense of the word.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (www.saskcancer.ca) or Victoria’s Quilts Canada (www.victoriasquiltscanada.com Climax, SK Branch). Susan’s family would like to thank all that came to share in Susan’s last days. Also a huge thank you to Palliative Care nurses Pat and Angel for their wonderful care and their help in keeping Susan comfortable to stay at home right up until the time of her passing. A special thanks also to Paula Olson for her compassionate care to the family.
Susan left an imprint and touched all who knew her; she will always be remembered in our hearts.
A Celebration of Susan’s Life was held Friday November 15, 2013 at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Saskatoon. Online condolences may be sent from www. hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Paula Olson, Hillcrest Funeral Home, Saskatoon (306)477-4400.
