Philip was predeceased by his daughter Carol Derksen, parents Ole and Bergine Listoe, sister Rosalyn Kemtrup, brother Carl Listoe, brothers-in-law Mel Kemtrup, Paul Morck, Dan West and Basil Frew. Philip was born in 1930 in Torquay, SK. He attended Teachers College in Moose Jaw, where he met his wife, Joyce Molberg. He taught school and continued his studies, obtaining a Bachelor of Education in 1960 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. Philip taught school in Buffalo Narrows, Cumberland House, Stony Rapids and Spiritwood, finishing his career as a school librarian in Rosetown and Saskatoon. He retired at Nutana Collegiate in 1984. Philip and Joyce had a busy retirement, travelling extensively. Several of their trips were repeat trips to Japan and Norway- teaching English in Japan led to lifelong relationships, and visiting Norway allowed them to know many relatives and act as tour guide to Canadian family. Philip lived his life to the fullest even as the complications of Type 1 Diabetes began to multiply. He loved God and shared his faith with others through actions and words. Philip showed his love by doing things for others, sharing his passion and gifts including missions, gardening, sewing, reading, music, cooking, cake decorating, photography, upholstery, knitting and travel. Philip’s love for family extended beyond his eight children and their families to include close and distant relatives and “adopted” family. He brought family together in Canada, the United States, Norway, South Africa and Japan and was the family historian, developing detailed family trees as a lasting legacy. He loved deeply and will be greatly missed. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St , first right past Briargate Rd). A Memorial Service for Philip will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Grove Community Church (502 Webster, Saskatoon, SK).
