<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie Zmud of Grandora, SK. Ernie was born on May 24, 1946 in the Cudworth Hospital to John and Lena (née Kukuruz) Zmud. Ernie entered his eternal rest on October 8, 2016 at the Royal University Hospital at the age of 70 years after a courageous and boundless battle with cancer that began in 1994. Ernie was predeceased by his parents and brothers Nick and Elmer. Cherishing his memory, Ernie leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years Doris (Green); his sister Dianna, sisters-in law Sally, Sheila (Ron) Loroff, brother-in-law Allen (Diane) Green, sons Terry (Coral) of Saskatoon, David (Amanda) of Calgary, grandchildren Dylan Sawchyn, Brayden and Alyssa, Kaylee DiPaolo, Pryia and great-granddaughter Aylah DiPaolo; nieces Tammy, Kendra, Jailyn, Leah, Alana, Jolean; nephews Harvey, Rusty, Jim, Joseph and Jamie. Ernie worked hard his entire life and became an extremely successful and dedicated carpenter by trade. Many who knew him will attest to his attention to detail, the precision in his work, his dedication and commitment in everything that he did. He was very proud of his craftsmanship and he would never cut corners. His motto was, “do it right or don’t do it at all”. He had a love for farming and caring for his cattle, he loved travelling to polka fests, camping and fishing. His grandchildren had a very special place in his heart. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at RUH for giving Ernie the care that he deserved and appreciated. A Funeral Service for Ernie will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 603 – 115th Street East, Saskatoon SK, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Interment of cremated remains at a later date. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing to make a donation in Ernie’s memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society (440 2nd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2C3). Online condolences may be sent from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Samantha Cheal, Hillcrest Funeral Home, 306-477-4400.</div>
