<div itemprop="description">It is with mixed feelings of sorrow and loss for our family, yet feelings of comfort and peace for Gary, that we announce his quick and peaceful passing at his home at St. Volodymyr villa in the early morning of May 20, 2017. Gary will be greatly missed and remembered with love always by his son Tim Ash (Lisa) of Taber, AB: daughter Tracey Grywul (Bruce) of Regina, SK; and his loving grandchildren: Brad Grywul, Alison Grywul, both of Regina; great grandchild Kiley and her mother Codie of Taber, AB. Gary will also be missed and fondly remembered by his two sisters-in-law: Donna Slywka of Seattle, WA and Nancy Kleppe-Whitebear (Joe) of Eston, SK. His ex-wife, Linda Ash will miss him so very much also as she became his arms and legs as his health deteriorated. His special friend, Anne Rumpel helped ease his mind and spirits by her comforting, faithful visits and quick wit – what a blessing for Gary! She made his long, restless days and nights better with her visits. Gary had a special bond with all his family and especially enjoyed the loving relationships with his nieces and nephews: Jackie Cuming (Saskatoon), Coralee (Randy) Klassen and family (Saskatoon), Sherry (Jason) Brewer and family (Eston), Mitch Kleppe (Patty) and family (Saskatoon), Jamie (Chantel) Kleppe and family (Eston), Christine Kleppe (Monica) (Calgary). Gary enjoyed hearing about his niece Sharon (Oscar) Ereso and family in San Diego, California, his nephew Bruce (Gretchen) Slywka and family in Seattle, WA and nephew Marty Slywka, who predeceased him. Because of distance, he was not able to watch them grow but always loved their stories and photos! Gary was a kind, thoughtful man with a generous soul who loved his family without measure. He was not afraid to speak his mind and even if we didn’t want to hear it, fortunately or unfortunately, he was right most of the time and we always knew he meant it for our own good! Gary was an accomplished and avid bowler who enjoyed many years bowling in leagues, competitions and also loved to teach others to bowl with great success. He made many friends over the years and was always interested in what was happening in their lives. Gary worked for over thirty three years at Intercontinental Packers and retired at age fifty six due to health issues. Gary was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, brother Darrell Ash, sister-in-law Judy Cuming, nephew Marty Slywka, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to express their thanks to the wonderful, caring and dedicated staff at St. Volodymyr Villa for your support and help during the sixteen years in which Gary made his home with you. How can we ever thank Dr. Sheouda and Pat for their constant, compassionate and loving care over the many years? Gary knew how blessed he was for their patience and care in dealing with his physical, emotional and spiritual health and that they would always find the time to help him at just a moment’s notice. I believe they helped give us the best of the years left and more years than we could have ever hoped for due to Gary’s many debilitating health problems….THANK YOU SO MUCH! A Service of Remembrance for Gary will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd).
