Today we reflect on the loss of Valorie Elizabeth (nee Tiernan) Schoonbaert. Val was a family oriented person who had a large extended family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, grandma and friend. Val was the eldest daughter of Wilson and Audrey Tiernan of Deloraine, MB. Val had four sisters and was put in charge and care of them at an early age. She was raised on a mixed farm and loved living the farm life. Val married her high school sweetheart, Terry, and went on to raise two sons and in turn became a second mom to many.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed her alone time, but she thrived in a good debate and was rarely shy about letting her position be known about local or international affairs. Val was always busy in the communities of Vanscoy and Saskatoon. She loved horseback riding, swimming, softball, volleyball, skating, curling, golfing, and quilting. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Val was an integral part of management for Ace of Carts and R.L. Electric Motor Rewinding. Her door was always open for visiting with all of her family and friends. Val will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Valorie is predeceased by her parents, Wilson James and Audrey Lila (nee Innes) Tiernan; brother-in-law, Garry Dingwall; and father-in-law, Arthur Schoonbaert. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Terrance “Terry”; son, Darren (Wendy Brown) and grandchildren Kyle and Rachel; son, Wade (Kelly Weimer); sisters, Shelley Dingwall, Sharon (Dan) Bartsch, Lynn (Mike) Olson and Colleen (Kent) Thiessen; mother-in-law, Madeline Schoonbaert; and brother-in-law, Rick (Helen) Schoonbaert and all of their families.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road).
