<div itemprop="description">Jessie passed away in the afternoon of November 1, 2014 at the age of 105. Born in the small Mennonite community of Ostervik (no longer in existence) near Hague, SK to Heinrich and Justina Martens (n&eacute;e Suderman) she was the 5th of 11 children. She was schooled in German and held strong Christian beliefs. Living on the prairies in those early days meant always lending a helping hand, sharing with those in need, making do with very little and being self-sufficient. Jessie lived her life guided by these principles. Married at 17 to Peter Neudorf she lived mainly in rural Saskatchewan and moved to Saskatoon with husband and family in the 1940&rsquo;s. Jessie&rsquo;s passions were her family, home and her garden. She will be remembered as kind, gracious, compassionate, creative, strong willed and resilient. She lived independently until 95 years of age, and moved to Riverside Terrace in 2005. In February 2014 she moved to Stensrud Lodge. At 100 years old she continued the spirit of giving by knitting mittens and scarves for school children and received recognition as a &ldquo;Helping Hands Volunteer.&rdquo; Jessie was predeceased by her parents, husband Peter, oldest son Henry and 10 siblings. She is survived by daughters Ann (Bob) LaPointe and Martha (Lorne) Switzer; son Dave (Liz) Neudorf, daughter-in-law Irene Neudorf; grandchildren Shirley Neudorf, Valerie (Don) Scanlon, Patricia LaPointe (Brent Long), Michelle (Ray) Hudson, Jim LaPointe, and Jennifer Neudorf; great grandchildren Leah (Jason) Kennedy, Shannon Scanlon and Kevin (Tania) Long; great great grandchildren Carson Long, Aliana Kennedy and newborns Lucas and Neveah Kennedy; as well nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends. The Funeral Services for Jessie will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.). When asked what was the secret to her long life she replied, &ldquo;Hard work I say, it&rsquo;s better than just sitting around.&rdquo; In lieu of flowers, donations in Jessie&rsquo;s name may be given to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Basil Forsberg.</div>
