It is with infinite sadness that the family of Jorawar (Jora) Singh Ludu announces his passing on Sunday evening, October 30, 2016, at the age of 75 years.

Jora was born in a farming village in Punjab, India, to Karam Singh and Permeshar Puar. He was the second youngest of eight siblings. Jora married Anupama Minhas in June 1966 and that same year emigrated to Canada and settled in Saskatchewan. In 1967, he was hired by the Turtleford School Division to teach in St. Walburg where he taught high school mathematics and science for 30 years. He continued substitute teaching and tutoring in Saskatoon, SK until 2015. Education was his true love and he touched so many lives through his passionate teaching style.

Jora had a love for his faith and spent his retirement contributing to the weekly activities of the Sikh Gurudwara in Saskatoon. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching tennis and took great pride in all things Saskatchewan and Canadian. He has left us with so many wonderful memories and will be greatly missed.

Jora is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Anupama; his two sons, Rajeev and Mandeep (Jane); his soon-to-be first granddaughter (due date of January 9, 2017); his sister Mohinder Kaur Pohar; his brother Diwan Singh Ludu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone for their tremendous outpouring of support during this difficult time. A celebration of Jora’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd). In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Jora can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (26-1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9).
