It is with joy and sorrow that we the family announce that Joan has continued on her journey to God on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Her journey began in Birmingham, England in 1926, the oldest of three girls. She moved to Canada in 1954 working as a missionary for the Anglican Church and continued to be active in the church throughout her life. Joan met and married Victor in 1966, and they started a family on the farm at Colonsay. Joan eventually moved into Colonsay after Victor’s passing, and then to Rosthern in 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; sisters Eileen Skew and Mary (John) Cusworth; and sister-in-law Phyllis Ayres. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her son John (Kathy); daughters Lynn (Duane) Hearn and Ann (Doug) Nelson; grandchildren Paul Ayres, Laura Ayres, Sherry (Jim) Siemens, Joanne (Kurtis) Schmautz, Shelby Havard and Bryanna Nelson; and four great-grandchildren as well as family in England. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral (816 Spadina Cres. E).
