<div itemprop="description">Elsie was born in Hafford to Pearl and Steve Howrish. Her early years were spent there and in Asquith, where her parents were employed. Since there was no high school there, she moved to Saskatoon and stayed with her aunt and uncle. It was there that she married John Edwards and began her family. Her children, John, Bill and Marilyn had an idyllic childhood with Elsie as their main supporter. When her children were grown, she took a courageous step and moved to Edmonton. During her time there, she met and married Foster Peddle and became “mom” to his three children, Dawn, Linda and Ron. When Foster died, she returned to Saskatoon and took on the role of grandmother and great grandmother. Elsie worked at Sears for many years, eventually rising to the position of manager of human resources. She had always been an avid golfer, so when she retired she enjoyed winters in Nevada with Foster, as well as world travelling with numerous friends. Elsie was a supreme gardener, growing bountiful vegetable gardens annually with nary a weed to be seen. She was also a superb cook- the family always enjoyed the Ukrainian Christmas feasts where she would prepare massive and tasty meals for fifteen or more of us. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Foster, her son Bill, daughter Marilyn and son-in-law Lorne Thurber. Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Heather) Edwards, Dave Young, Dawn Thurber, Linda Peddle, and Ron (Jan) Peddle. Her grandchildren Amy (Ryan) Orth, Robin (Devin) Harris, Bonnie (Iain) Maclean, Crystal (Brock) Fitch, Bobby (Taylor) Young will hold memories of her generosity and caring. Elsie also leaves eight great grandchildren –Liam and Blake Harris, Bennett and Brooke Maclean, Rory and Connor Fitch, Tucker Young and Owen Orth. In recent years, Elsie moved back to Saskatoon and met Don Breher who was her final soulmate and has become part of our family. Elsie faced many health challenges in her final year. As she received news of health issues, her words were “This is just another hurdle; I just don’t know how high it is.” Her legacy to us will be one of courage, resilience and acceptance. We will sorely miss her. Friends and family are invited to our Celebration of Life for Elsie Peddle on Friday, April 7th at 1:00 at Grace Westminster Church with Rev. Daryl Woods officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.</div>
