She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Lydena Magee, son Gary Evans and sisters, Vivien McGinn, Leslie Anderson, Barbara Boll and brother, Bud Magee. She was born in White Fox and grew up in the Carrot River area and on the farm owned by her grandparents for part of the time. She moved to Saskatoon when she was 17 and worked in a boarding house for her mother’s sister, Auntie Smith, while attending business school. After graduation she accepted a position at Campbell Wilson Miller where she met her future husband, Cyril in 1945. They were married in 1949. After the birth of their second child she worked part time at CPR, Salisbury Hardware, Miller Hatcheries, Woolco and Midwestern Enterprises before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed spending time at Waskesiu, and camping trips to Western Canada when their family was young. Elaine enjoyed curling, socializing with members of her sewing club, UCW and teaching Sunday school at Trinity United Church in Montgomery Place. After retirement, she spent summers at Emma Lake enjoying fishing, playing cards and playing video games with her grandchildren. Her favourite winter getaway was in Oahu, Hawaii with Cy and enjoyed when family and friends could join them there. She and Cy also enjoyed travelling with family to Florida, a cruise to Mexico, visiting her sister in Toronto and to California, Las Vegas and on casino bus trips closer to Saskatoon. Elaine was bright, energetic, hard working and her kindness knew no bounds. She was a terrific cook and made the best gravy, spice cookies and Christmas baking. The family are grateful for the kindness and support provided by the Warm ‘n’ Cozy Personal Care Home where she lived with her devoted husband during this past year and also to Fay Sittler who provided additional care there. The family also wish to thank the doctors and staff at St. Paul’s hospital for their empathy and care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Elaine’s name, to the Alzheimer’s Society or to St Paul’s hospital.
