<div itemprop="description">&nbsp; <p> It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Brian at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the age of 62, with his family at his side.&nbsp; He is survived by his loving wife, Mona (ne&eacute; Thornton); children Jill (Harlan), Stacey (John), and Stephen (Ren&eacute;e); his mother Thelma Isley, sister Judy (Rick Fahl); sisters-in-law Joan (Gordon Armstrong) of Hussar, AB, Karen (Willard Nichols) of Saskatoon, SK and Beth (Alex Goldie) of Prince George, BC and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.&nbsp; He was predeceased by his father William in 2002, and father and mother-in-law Stewart and Violet Thornton in 2008.&nbsp; Brian was born in Vancouver, BC and was raised on the family farm west of Milden, SK. &nbsp;He attended Milden Central School and then went on to SAIT (Calgary, AB), graduating from Electronics in 1971.&nbsp; Brian began his 29 year career with SaskTel in June of 1971 as an Electronics Technician.&nbsp; He married Mona in September of 1973 and they have lived in Saskatoon for the past 39 years, raising their children.&nbsp; Although Brian grew up on the prairies, his love for the mountains drew him to the Rockies each summer since retirement.&nbsp; Brian and Mona would look forward to driving to BC, always searching for new courses to play.&nbsp; For the past several years, they have enjoyed winter holidays to Mexico, the Caribbean and Arizona. Some of Brian's many hobbies included woodworking, his yard, cooking and following the Blue Jays and Raptors.&nbsp; The family extends their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of Brian's care team at the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, RUH 6100 and ICU for the care and compassion.&nbsp; A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.).&nbsp; Memorial donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre (20 Campus Dr., Saskatoon, S7N 4H4) or a charity of one&rsquo;s choice.&nbsp; Online condolences may be sent from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca &nbsp;&nbsp;Arrangements entrusted to Charmaine Legrand. </p> </div>
