<div itemprop="description">The death of Ruth Meilicke occurred peacefully in Saskatoon on April 6, 2012 at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur in 2012, a great grandson in 2007, her parents, siblings and in-laws. Ruth is survived by her children Bruce (Karen), Barbara (Rick), Trish (Wayne); seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mom was born in Colhurst, Alberta where she grew up and attended school. Mom enlisted in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) in 1942 and was posted to Trenton, Ontario where she met Dad. They were married in 1943, after discharge in 1945 they moved to the Clavet area to farm and lived there until 1974. Mom was the right hand partner to our Dad, making the farm a true success while also being a busy Mom and homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She liked nothing better than being together with all the family. Mom was actively involved in church and community; she was a member of the Coates Homemakers Club for many years. Mom curled for many years. She played second on Yvonne Lindberg's team when they won the Saskatchewan Northern Women's curling championship, an achievement she was very proud of. In their retirement years Mom and Dad travelled extensively, spending winters in Arizona and summers at Emma Lake, socializing and golfing. They made many lasting friendships. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oliver Lodge where Mom has lived for the past five years; the care provided was exceptional. The Funeral Service for Ruth will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Road). In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ruth&rsquo;s memory to (Oliver Lodge Special Care Home, 1405 Faulkner Cres., Saskatoon S7L 3R5), or charity of one's choice.
