<div itemprop="description">Marian Olive Brandvold, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2016 in Saskatoon, Sask. She was born on April 2, 1929 in Asquith, Sask. Marian was predeceased by her husband, William Earl, her parents Cecil and Olive Gordon, sister-in-law Lorraine and Raoul Lalonde, and her parents-in-law, Carl and Lillian Brandvold. Marian is survived by her five children: Gloria and Lyle Tucker of Saskatoon; Rod Brandvold and Helene Charlebois of Ottawa; Bonita and Darryl Tucker of Central Butte; Linda and Clayton Thompson of Swift Current; Roger and Carie Brandvold of Regina and her 14 grandchildren and spouses and her 23 great grandchildren. Marian has always been a hardworking, private person who was particularly devoted to her husband and family. When Marian and Earl were first married and began raising their children they were farmers, west of Saskatoon. As the children grew they moved to Central Butte to operate a grocery store and Marian's Clothing Store. They later operated in Craik, Sask., the E&M Enterprises which included a Sears Store, Floral Arrangements, Antique Store and a Carpentry business. After Craik, they sort of retired to Davidson to live on an acreage where they grew huge gardens and maintained a beautiful yard. Marian was very creative and particularly talented with her hand skills, whether sewing, baking, growing plants, refinishing furniture, or painting which she began while she was in her eighties. In all of these businesses, Marian and Earl worked together but always made time for family visits on special days. Marian's hands were a symbol of her life, strong and hardworking, but gentle enough to rub the back of a grandchild to help him sleep. She was well loved, extremely generous and so tremendously missed already. The Funeral Service for Marian will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd). Donations in Marian’s name may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (#26-1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon SK S7K 1V9), the Arthritis Society (1815 Lorne Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7H 1Y5) or the SPCA (5028 Clarence Ave, Grasswood, SK S7T 1A7).
