Lois Doreen Swan, 83, of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, passed away on June 18, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral service for Lois will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Saskatoon on June 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with her son-in-law, Greg Kelly officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Lois was born south of Stranraer, Saskatchewan, on the farm at Toft Hill on August 4, 1932 to John and Myrtle Fines. On October 16, 1950 she married the love of her life, George Swan, and they shared life together for almost 66 wonderful years. Lois enjoyed many activities including tennis, softball, square dancing, ping pong, curling and many others, but caring for her family of 6 children was what brought her the most joy and purpose in her life. Lois and George lived on the farm near Plenty, Saskatchewan for approximately 60 years, where Lois claimed that the home was her “department”. She was an amazing wife, mother, cook and caregiver and gave new meaning to the term “homemaker”.

Lois is predeceased by her parents John and Myrtle Fines, her sisters Mary Olson, Hazel Quinney, Janet Daniels, Bernice Johnson, and Merle McQuaig and her brothers Robert Fines and Elmer Fines.

She is survived by her loving husband George Swan, her six children Dennis (Kim) Swan of Plenty, Daryl (Shauna) Swan of Plenty, Linda (Brian) Thiessen of Kindersley, Laurie (Ron) Brown of Delisle, Tammy (Greg) Kelly of Dodsland, Ron (Laura) Swan of Regina, along with 22 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Her favourite numbers were 6-22-48-101, which represented her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and the grand total, including spouses, of 101. What an amazing legacy she has left behind!

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois’ memory can be made to the Royal University Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a way of showing gratitude for the incredible care Lois received during her last days. The entire Swan family will be forever grateful for this. Online condolences may be sent from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home, 306-477-4400.
