<div itemprop="description">With deep sadness Lilian&rsquo;s family announces her passing on January 30, 2015 at Sunnyside Care Centre. It was just two months ago on November 8, 2014 that Lilian lost her husband Ernie. She is survived by her children: Beverley Jackson, Sandra Peters, Pamela (David) Purkis and Donna Rashbrook; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lilian was predeceased by her husband Ernie, son Arthur, three brothers John, Thomas and Arnold. Lilian was born in Halifax Yorkshire, England. She took her schooling there and when WWII began she enlisted (while underage) in the British Army serving in the Royal Army Service Corps. It was during the War years that Lilian met a fine young man serving in the Royal Canadian Army &ndash; Ernest Peel. They married December 6, 1945 in England. Ernie returned to Canada and his &ldquo;War Bride&rdquo; joined him on the farm near Leslie, SK. After 20 years of farming they returned to England for a year. The family came to Saskatoon and Ernie and Lilian moved to B.C. for a time after retiring but returned to Saskatoon. Lilian and Ernie travelled much to visit family as this was so important to both of them. Also important for Lilian was the care of animals. Her soft heart brought her to look after even the weakest tiny animal &ndash; hand-raising the new chicks and spoon feeding the orphaned kittens, a true farmer&rsquo;s wife. In respect of Lilian&rsquo;s love for animals, donations may be made to the Saskatoon SPCA (5028 Clarence Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7T 1A7). A Funeral Service for Lilian will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd). Online condolences may be sent from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Basil Forsberg.</div>
