<div itemprop="description">Surrounded by the love of family, Leonard John passed away on March 18th. He was born on the farm near Harris, SK in 1928 to Mary and Peter Penner. During his life Leonard was employed by Quaker Oats and PCS. He retired from Cominco, where he worked as a Steam Engineer in the Power House. During these years he continued to farm until the age of 82. Dad married Lynda Sabiston on October 10,1953 and they lovingly raised a son and four daughters. Dad loved us dearly and helped us through many hard times - whether fixing cars or building furniture which will be treasured forever. He amazed us with his ability to create whatever piece of equipment he needed, using his wood or metal lathes. One thing that sticks out in all our memories is the working miniature airplane motor sculpted painstakingly and precisely from metal on his lathe. Dad supported us whenever we needed a helping hand; his opinions respected by all of us. Dad was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Penner, and his brother Eddie. Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 62 years Lynda; sister-in-law Marg Penner; children Bruce (Pat), Debra (David), Jackie (Dave), Judy (Henry), Laurie (Adair); grandchildren Jessie (Cam), Jason, Tricia (Steve), Jill (Joel), Erin (Brad), Emily (Leroy), Alex (Claudine), Tyler, Michael (Pam), Gina (Derek), Matthew, Joel; step-grandchildren Michael (Victoria), Dave (Ashley), Jeremy (Angie), Jesse (Michela) Rolheiser; and 10 great-grandchildren with twins expected soon. We wish to thank the wonderful staff of Langham Senior Citizen's Home for their compassionate care given to Dad and the continued loving support shown to Mom. They have truly become part of our family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Langham Senior Citizen's Home (140 Main St E, Langham, SK S0K 2L0). A Celebration of Leonard&rsquo;s Life will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10:00am with public visitation at 9:00am, both at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.). Arrangements in care of Jamie Rugg and Basil Forsberg.</div>
