<div itemprop="description">The family of Ernest Vestre are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the age of 95 years. Ernest was born in Outlook, SK and grew up on his father&rsquo;s farm near Strongfield. He was proud of his service in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, where he was posted in the South Pacific Theatre and participated in the famous Guadalcanal campaign. Ernest&rsquo;s first loves have always been farming and his wife Sally. He farmed near Strongfield for many years before moving to Westbank, B.C. in 1969. There he took up carpentry and worked for many years with Seltenritch Construction until his retirement. He enjoyed his time in B.C., making many new friends there, and spent a lot of time skiing and fishing with those friends and family. He and Sally returned to Saskatchewan in 1996 to spend their final years surrounded by their family and friends. Ernest loved being back in the fields on his nephews&rsquo; farms. Nothing would please him more than being outdoors or surrounded by friends and family. Ernest will be remembered by his loving wife, Sally; son Les (Sue); sisters Dorothy, Joy and Gladys; brothers Otis and Dave, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ernest&rsquo;s honor may be made to a charity of one&rsquo;s choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (East on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.). Online condolences may be made at www.hillcrestmemorial.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Charmaine Menard.</div>
