<div itemprop="description">Elsie was born in Calgary to Swedish immigrants Edwin and Elin Hokanson on September 14, 1929. She grew up in Calgary AB in a close-knit family with two sisters and one brother. She married Floyd White on September 17,1954. Floyd’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces took them to many places around the world. Shortly after they were married they lived in France for three years where they welcomed their son Wayne and daughter Patricia. While they were in Europe, they travelled to Holland, Germany, Brussels, and visited many relatives in Sweden. They returned to Calgary where their daughter Sandra was born. Throughout their marriage they lived across Canada in many provinces including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba. In 1974 they retired in Saskatoon. In 2013 Elsie moved to a retirement home. At The Bentley she made new friends and good memories. She especially loved the beautiful courtyard.<br><br>Elsie had many hobbies which included bingo, knitting, and crocheting. She also loved to play board games and cards. When she was younger, Elsie enjoyed bowling with her friends in community leagues where she won numerous trophies. She was also passionate about speed skating and curling. Her greatest joy was when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit her. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Elsie appreciated the Bible and loved the hope of the resurrection, where she would be reunited with her late son, parents and siblings. <br><br>Elsie was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and her son Wayne. She will be missed by her daughters Pat (Gene) Morgan, Sandra (Dave) Smitsnuk, and her favourite daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Randi (Jeremy) Ovelson, Lindsey (Lee) Swicheniuk, Devin Smitsnuk, Darren Smitsnuk, Tyler White, Heather White, great-grandchildren Blake, Taylor, Easton, and Liv. Elsie had many nieces and nephews that she was especially fond of. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service for Elsie will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (1725 McKercher Drive, Saskatoon, SK).
