<div itemprop="description">The family of Betty Stevenson is deeply saddened to announce her passing on April 12, 2015 at the age of 75. Betty was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan. She spent most of her childhood in Saskatoon, attending Thornton Elementary School and Tech Collegiate. She met the love of her life, Gary, in high school and they were together for 35 years until Gary's passing in 1994. Betty was a devoted mother to her three children and a beloved grandmother to her precious grandchildren. She worked for a few years as an operator for SaskTel, then spent many years on the switchboard at Sears, from which she retired in 1994. Betty was very involved with the St. Philip Neri Parish, singing in the choirs and helping where needed. Her faith was so important to her. She loved to sing, taking voice lessons in her retirement and she enjoyed being a part of the Saskatoon Choral Society. Her life was her family. Time with grandkids and extended family gatherings were her joy. Gary and Betty enjoyed some special travel memories including camping, trips to Disneyland with the family; Europe for a Silver Broom curling adventure and a special trip to Hawaii. She always made time for her many friends as well - maintaining connections as far back as elementary school. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Helen Besse; husband Gary, her brothers Carmen (Helen) and Jerry; her sister Muriel Laird; and brother-in-law Norm Stevenson. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lee (Vance) Glasier; Lindsay Stevenson; and Andra (Brian) Thorstad; her grandchildren Jonathon, Brianna (Omar), Olivia, Carla (Joel), Jamie (Stuart), Kristie (Brian), Sean, Reed, Cori and Kate; great-grandchildren Will, Wade, Reed, Ira, Clara, Weston and Jack; brothers Bud (Shirley), Larry (Rhoda) and her special niece &ldquo;sister&rdquo;, Arlene Coulter, sisters-in-law Verna and Violet, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, all of whom she loved very much. We are so happy you are now at peace. Many thanks go to the staff at Extendicare for your support and care for Mom these last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty&rsquo;s name may be made to the Parkinson Society of Saskatchewan (610 Duchess Street, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R1). A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd). Family and friends may send online condolences from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Charmaine Menard.</div>
