He was born in 1933 on the family farm in the Colonsay-Viscount-Meacham district, the second youngest of eight children of Olav and Hildur Moen. He was baptized in December 1933. As a young man he had a life changing experience during an evangelistic week at St John’s Church, when he made a personal commitment to Christ and attended the Christian Youth Fellowship event. He was an active, faithful member of St John’s where he served as Sunday School teacher, assisted with youth work, and held various positions on the Board including Treasurer. Art attended Nicklet Public School and took high school by correspondence, finishing his Grade 12 by GED. He spent a winter term at Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute (LCBI) in Outlook. Except for about six months with his brother in carpentry in Portage la Prairie, his working years were spent on the family farm. For three of those years he also worked at the Colonsay Potash Mine. On December 27, 2003 at the age of 70, he married Ione (Olson) Tysseland, (the first wedding in the remodeled St. John’s Lutheran Church). He retired in 2013, at which time he was diagnosed with dementia. For the past year, Art was provided with excellent care at the Intermediate Care Home at Luther Heights. Left to celebrate Art’s life are his loving wife Ione Tysseland; one sister Alice Holland, brothers Ron (Rosemary), Hilding and Lynn; several aunts uncles, nieces, nephews ,other extended family and a host of neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Anders and Ingeborg Moen and John and Anna Hillbom; parents Olav and Hildur (Hillbom) Moen; sisters Myrtle Forsberg and Margaret Moen, baby brother Olav; brothers-in-law Bernhard Forsberg and Gerald Holland.
